2006/04/10 - The PMMBogoFilter package has been updated.
The
PMMBogoFilter package
has been updated at HOBBES.
This package supplies the required REXX scripts, to allow
PMMail to use the
BogoFilter package
(available for separate download, from Paul Smedley). Tat also requires
LIBC061.DLL
BogoFilter is a Bayesian filter program.
There is the main script, which causes incoming mail
to be scanned by BogoFilter, which evaluates the words,
to determine if the e-mail is SPAM, or not. It then adds
a line in the header, which indicates the results of the
evaluation.
From that information, a PMMail filter can separate the
SPAM into a folder (or the TRASH, if you prefer), based on
the spamicity, or, rating, of the e-mail.
Two other filters (or, a separate training program, if you
use PMMail 1.96a) call the REXX scripts to train
BogoFilter to recognize e-mail that was not evaluated as
SPAM, to be rcognized as SPAM, and to train it to
NOT recognize it as SPAM, if it was erroneously evaluated
as being SPAM.
More information is in
PMMBogoFilter.html.
I strongly suggest reviewing that information before you install this version.
WARNING: The PMMBogoFilter.0.6.1 update may NOT work with PMMail 1.96a, and/or warp4.
Use an older version, if it won't work for you.
NEW with 0.6.1
Support for bogofilter-1.0.2-os2.zip. This will install on warp4, and for PMMail 1.96a,
but I have been unable to get it to actually work with that combination. That could be because
it doesn't work, or it could be that my test system has a problem (not unlikely).
NOTE: This install will remove the old PMMBogoFilter filters, and install new ones.
Doing that MAY change the order of your filters, so check that after install.
BogoUtil.EXE requires the presence of TCPIP32.DLL, which is only in the newer 32 bit TCP/IP
stack versions. Apparently, it doesn't actually get used, so I have developed a work around,
so that BogoFilter can work on an older system. Be sure to READ the information at:
PMMBogoFilter.html
for more details.

2005/12/31 - A new year full of new things
First of all, the os2warp.be staff would like to express their best wishes for 2006. May it be a year filled of joy and happynes.
2006 seems to become a very exciting year for OS/2: IBM has abandoned regular OS/2, so that only leaves us with eComStation. Though IBM hasn't made any developments of major interest to our operating system for the last four years, we can see more development then ever before for our system, which is largely focussed on eComStation. In this view of the future, we are pleased to announce that have reached an agreement with Serenity Systems Intl and Mensys B.V. on the joint development of our hardware database. In concrete, this means the os2warp.be Compatible Hardware List will become available via a database on the ecomstation.com website, which without a doubt will have a very precious value for existing and potential eComStation customers. This will also allow us to add new driver projects on this web site, something we plan to do in association with netlabs.org.
Amongst our wishes for 2006 is the wish that we can please you with hosting our extensive and accurate information, during the upcoming year. Posted by: Administrator
